Chicago Fire Actress Announces Exit Following Season 6 Finale

Last week we watched a very emotional season 6 finale of Chicago Fire that left one character debating a new job offer. Today, we find out that one of the main cast members has announced that she will not be returning in Chicago Fire season 7. Keep reading to find out who!

Today on Twitter, Monica Raymund, best known for her role as Gabriela Dawson, announced that she would be leaving Chicago Fire. She posted a hand-written letter to her fans explaining that she feels it is time to move on to the next chapter in her life.

“It has been an honor to play Dawson on Chicago Fire and one of the most meaningful experience of my life. I am so thankful for the journey and especially to all of you for watching, but I have made the decision that it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in life. I’ll always be proud to have played a fierce paramedic with such an incredible cast and crew. On to the next! See you on the ice. Love, Monica”

In the Chicago Fire season 6 finale, Dawson and Casey, played by Jesse Spencer, were planning to start trying to build their family when Dawson gets unexpected news about her health. After complications with her first pregnancy, she developed an aneurysm that could rupture if she became pregnant. Desperate to have a baby, Dawson tells Casey that she is willing to risk it if he was. However, he was not willing to risk losing his wife.

This lead to Dawson contemplating a volunteer job in Puerto Rico as part of the relief efforts. One could only assume that in season 7 we will learn that she took this job. How will this leave Casey in the upcoming season? Will he be proud of his wife for moving onto this opportunity to do what she does best for people who need it most? Will this turn into him being a depressed mess in the upcoming season? Only time will tell.
